ABSTRACT

Objective:To evaluate the effect of comprehensive intervention measures on reducing the mortality rate of infants born to human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected pregnant women. Methods:A total of 9 773 infants born to pregnant women with positive HIV antibody and confirmed HIV infection in Sichuan Province from 2005 to 2019 were included. The changes of infant mortality, death composition, time of death, and main causes of death in the whole province and different regions at baseline (2005 to 2016) and after comprehensive intervention measures (from 2017 to 2019) were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted by chi-square test and trend chi-square test. Results:After the intervention, the infant mortality rate born to HIV-infected mothers was 49.6‰ (221/4 455), which dropped 40.6% compared to the baseline (83.5‰ (444/5 318)), and that in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture was 53.3‰ (186/3 491), which dropped 48.3% compared to the baseline (103.1‰ (379/3 676)). Furthermore, the infant mortality rate in Sichuan Province and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture decreased with time (trend χ2=42.058 and 60.041, respectively, both P<0.01). The proportions of infant death of HIV-infected mothers among the total infant death in Sichuan Province and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture decreased from 29.3% (130/444) and 25.9% (98/379) to 13.6%(30/221) and 9.7%(18/186), respectively, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=19.918 and 20.020, respectively, both P<0.01). The infant death time was mainly delayed from less than one month (31.5%(140/444) and 28.5%(108/379), respectively) to 2-3 months (27.6%(61/221) and 28.5%(53/186), respectively) in Sichuan Province and Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=24.642 and 26.009, respectively, both P<0.01). The infant mortality rates due to pneumonia, diarrhea, suspected HIV infection, premature delivery or low birth weight decreased from 44.4‰ (236/5 318), 12.0‰ (64/5 318), 4.9‰ (26/5 318) and 4.3‰ (23/5 318) at baseline to 26.9‰ (120/4 455), 7.6‰ (34/4 455), 1.8‰ (8/4 455) and 0.7‰ (3/4 455), respectively, and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2=21.010, 4.734, 6.691 and 12.182, respectively, all P<0.05). Conclusions:Through the implementation of comprehensive intervention measures, the infant mortality rates of HIV-infected mothers in Sichuan Province and the high endemic areas decrease significantly. However, it is necessary to pay more attention to the high death risk and the infant death in the middle or low endemic areas. The infant health care of HIV-infected mothers within six months should be strengthened. The quality of follow-up and health care services targeted to the main cause of death should be improved.

ABSTRACT

Protein phosphorylation is one of the main ways to activate protein bioactivity and make it participate in cell life activities. Researches have shown that approximately 30% of proteins in the human body are modified by phosphorylation at different levels and at different sites. If the protein phosphorylation modification level or site is abnormal, it will cause the occurrence and development of malignant tumors. Malignant tumors have always been a kind of diseases that endanger human life and health. According to statistics, as many as 18 million malignant tumors and more than 9.6 million deaths occur every year worldwide. With the continuous recognition on the abnormality of protein phosphorylation modification in tumorigenesis and development, the research and development of drugs for abnormality of protein phosphorylation modification has become a focus in the field of tumor therapy at present. Each traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) can be regarded as a natural molecular library, and it participates in the regulation of protein phosphorylation modification level with the advantages of multiple components and multiple targets, with slight side effect and low drug resistance, so TCM is one of the main sources of drug development for regulating protein phosphorylation modification levels. Through the search of multiple databases at home and abroad, it was found that certain monomers, parts extracted from TCM, single-TCM and TCM compounds can affect the tumor progression by regulating the level of protein phosphorylation and exert better anti-tumor effect. Based on the current research status of protein phosphorylation regulation by TCM at home and abroad, we found that TCM can inhibit tumor cell proliferation, invasion and metastasis, angiogenesis, and maintenance of stem cell stemness by regulating protein phosphorylation levels, and exert antitumor effects by promoting apoptosis. In order to clarify the molecular mechanism of TCM in regulating protein phosphorylation level and exerting antitumor effect, and provide evidences for the development and clinical application of antitumor TCM, the authors reviewed the mechanism of TCM in regulating protein phosphorylation level and exerting their antitumor effect from different ways in this paper.

ABSTRACT

To intuitively understand the phenotypic diversity of intra-population and inter-population of the medicinal Cistanche Herba distributed in Xinjiang province, three species of Cistanche Herba were selected for the first time to be conducted to phenotypic observation and measurement from the morphological perspective, aiming to fill the gap in the morphological research concerning Cistanche Herba, and discuss about the relationship between the phenotypic variation and the host plants together with the geographical conditions, thus better understanding the speciation and evolutionary mechanism of Cistanche Herba and providing some scientific basis for the resource protection and germplasm breeding of Cistanche Herba. Based on sampling survey, a total of 118 well grown medicinal Cistanche samples from 17 Cistanche Herba distribution areas in Xinjiang province were selected, and various indexes were observed and measured. Besides, ANOVA and clustering analysis were conducted with 9 phenotypic quantity characters. The Cistanche Herba was plentiful in phenotypic variation. For detail, significant intra-population differences were observed in eight of the nine character indexes, and the intra-population differences were more obvious than those of inter-population. For each quantity character of the three species, the flower density possessed the maximal variable coefficient (71.1%) while the flower length was the minimum (15.9%). The phenotypic variation was also obvious among different populations. Specifically, the average variable coefficient of flower number was the maximal one (46.5%) and the flower length was the minimum one (10.0%). For different populations, the average variable coefficient of the D4 population was the maximal one (41.1%) and the S3 population was the minimum one (13.5%). According to the clustering analysis, all the samples of Cistanche Herba could be divided into three groups when the Euclidean distance was set at 15. The populations of S1, S3, D1, S2, D4, D6, D7 and D5 which distributed in the north of Xinjiang were clustered into one group, and the populations of D8, S4, D9, D2 and D3 that grown in east and central of Xinjiang were clustered into another group. The populations of C. deserticola and C. salsa could not be completely separated, but both of them were obviously differentiated from the T1, T3 and T2 populations of C. tubulosa. Besides, the C. deserticola and C. salsa displayed a patch distribution among different populations, and similar phenotypic characters were shared for each population. The research results of phenotype were consistent with that of molecular biology study of Cistanche Herba. The different phenotypic characters in different distribution areas were deduced to be arose from geographical isolation caused by mountains, which led to the specific genetic structure for each population of Cistanche Herba during the long-term adaptation and evolution. In conclusion, the current study showed the adaptation potency of Cistanche Herba exposed to different habitats.
